Very well, you have my sincerest apologies. One can never be too careful.
By the by, it took a few minutes to figure out exactly what I was responding to.
It's ridiculous to me when people tell me Valentine's Day has something to do with religion. One of my Marines just told me he HAD to leave work to partake in Valentine's Day Mass.
Now, if a servicemember wishes to attend mass, I let him go, no questions asked. I have no problem with that at all. I just wish my own religion would come up with some crazy holidays during the work week.
Back on point- I performed my due diligence and re-researched February 14th. The See recognized eleven different St Valentines' Days until 1969. It was the Royal Court and Gentry of Chaucer's day who linked St Valentine to pagan spring fertility rituals by invoking romantic, courtly love.
At least, that is what Wikipedia says...
So what kind of holiday is this?
I guess I am just boo-hooing because there are no likely candidates for me here.
